Blueberry and Bilberry Juices ← back to Juices
Bilberry is known as Blueberry to Americans and goes yet by other names in different regions. It is a small shrub of about a foot in height growing wild in highland fields and woodland of Georgia. Bilberry ripens from July and on through September. Plump dark blueberries have sweetish yet somewhat sour taste.
Whilst bilberry and blueberry are actually the same species, there are still few differences between these berries. Bilberry mainly grows wild throughout temperate zones of Europe (this berry has been gathered by primordial population of Europe from the times immemorial). Bilberry is usually paired, unlike blueberry that grows in clusters. Because of the higher yield the last one is being extensively cultivated.
Bilberry has been prized for ages as a nutritious food and delicacy. Particular medicinal use of bilberry emerged in middle Ages in Germany.
As the colouring of this berry may indicate, bilberry contains considerable level of anthocyanin pigmentations that has been proven empirically good in prevention of several maladies, especially cardiovascular diseases and cancer. Like with most fruits, positive effect is not attributed to one and only chemical component – apart from anthocyanins, bilberry is rich in vitamins, tannins and other phytochemicals.
Georgia's Natural Blueberry Juice is produced from wild berries that grow in somewhat hostile environment and contain more antioxidants.
Blueberry is known to have prevented and even reversed most common causes of sight loss in older age. This fruit is so popular in Japan for the beneficial effects that it has been nicknamed Eyesight Fruit.
Preliminary researches suggest that thanks to antioxidant effect of flavanoids found in blueberry, Georgia's Natural Blueberry Juice may serve as a protecttion against side effects of aging of the brain, like loss of short-time memory.
Like all other juices Georgia's Natural Blueberry Juice is offer in 1 liter as well as 314 ml and 200 ml bottles.
