Cornelian cherry, or simply cornel ripens in late autumn in Georgia, but even unripe and yet sour fruit can be harvested and stored to mature. Healing virtue of cornelian cherry has been well known to Ancient Greeks and Persians. Juice has a sour flavour best described as a mixture of cranberry and sour cherry.
Georgia's Natural Cornel Juice contains considerable quantity of easily digestible reducing sugars (glucose and fructose), organic acids (malic acid for the most part), microelements and major mineral elements, watersoluble polyphenols and essential amino acids, also vitamins C, B1, B2, PP, E and folic acid, all of them good in strengthening radiation resistance of the body.
